April is a busy month not just for settling tax obligations but also for government payments. Here’s a breakdown of important dates to keep in mind:
- April 4, 2025 — the second GST/HST Tax Credit you can get this year
- April 10, 2025 — the date you can get your Ontario Trillium Benefit payment this month
- April 17, 2025 — Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payment date for this month
- April 22, 2025 — starting date to receive your last Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR). You can only get the last refund as early as this day when you have filed personal tax return on or before April 2.
- April 28, 2025 — Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) payment date this month
- April 30, 2025 — deadline to file your 2024 personal income tax return and pay any taxes owed. If you have capital gains to report, CRA grants you extensions/waived penalties and interests (May 1 for T2 filers and June 2 for T1 filers). For regular taxpayers, the normal deadline applies.

This year marks the end of carbon rebate. This April payment is supposed to be the second of four quarterly payments but ended as the Canada carbon price is scrapped.
Most of the dates here are quarterly or monthly payments from the CRA, but worth keeping in mind so you can keep track. You can also check CRA’s benefits payment dates.
