Several tax filing deadlines and benefit payment dates are impending this month. Mark your calendars for the following dates:

  • June 10, 2025 – Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) Payment (the next OTB payment for eligible Ontario residents)
  • June 16, 2025: Filing Deadline for Self-Employed Individuals (extension from June 15 deadline as it falls on a Sunday)

Important Note: While the filing deadline is extended, any taxes owed for 2024 were still due by April 30, 2025. Interest may apply to any outstanding balance from that date.

  • June 16, 2025: Second Tax Installment Payment (second payment for the 2025 tax year for those who pay their taxes by installments)
  • June 20, 2025: Canada Child Benefit (CCB) Payment (scheduled payment date this month for eligible families)
  • June 26, 2025: Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) Payments (paid monthly and always near the end of the month)
  • June 30, 2025: Corporate Tax Filing Deadline (for corporations with a fiscal year-end of December 31; this is the standard six-month filing window following the end of the tax year)

Why These Dates Matter

Meeting filing deadlines is crucial to avoid potential late filing penalties and interest charges from the CRA. Benefit recipients, on the other hand, can more proactively plan their finances knowing their payment schedules.

Benefits are paid monthly or quarterly plan finances accordingly

Better File Late Than Never

Be sure to file before the deadline, but in case you miss it, it’s better to file late than never. The CRA uses sophisticated systems to track compliance. While not every return is individually audited, discrepancies or missed deadlines can trigger further review.

Ensuring all returns are filed accurately and on time, and payments are made when due, is the best way to maintain a good standing with the tax authorities. Need help with tax compliance? Reach our tax accountant today!
